Armitano Editores C.A. and Graficas Armitano C.A. began operating 45 years ago in the city of Caracas, Venezuela. Over the years we have established a name as one of the leading printer-publishers in South America. The success of the two companies can be attributed to the technical know-how of printing and dedication of our founder, Ernesto Armitano, and the application of modern state-of-the-art technology by his son, Leon Armitano, a graduate of the school of printing of the Rochester Institute of Technology.
Pre-press, including stripping, color separation and binding is carried out under one roof. In each department can be found the most advanced equipment available on the international market. Stocastic imaging, supervised by Leon Armitano, provides a new quality printing in Venezuela.
Publications cover a broad range of subjects that include monographs of Venezuelan painters; books on orchids, bromeliads, snakes, birds, the jaguar, etc.; Venezuelan geography, folklore, anthropology, travel guides, etc.; Colonial, popular, and indigenous architecture; and Latin American art.
"In Venezuela, when we speak of printing and publishing,
we take into consideration two periods:
before Armitano and after Armitano."
-Oswaldo Vigas, El Nacional, Caracas, Venezuela, October 1, 1987
Armitano first came to Venezuela as a tourist in 1953, however, spotted the potential that Venezuela offered. He had studied printing and design in Italy and Venezuela needed quality printers so Armitano Editores was born. Not only has Armitano contributed to the cultural wealth of Venezuela, he has come to call it home.
