An artist who excelled in both his drawings and paintings, Centeno was greatly influenced by his stay in Italy as a member of the staff of the Venezuelan Embassy in Rome. His drawings are absolutely classical, and his paintings show the same tendency. He excels particularly in still life where he presents an almost photographic reproduction, calling to mind the art of Ruskin.

Un artista que se desempeño sea en el dibujo como en la pintura, Centeno fué fuertemente influenciado por su permanencia en Italia, como miembro de la embajada Venezolana en Roma. Sus diseños son idudablemente clásicos y sus pinturas demuestran la misma tendencia. Centeno sobresale particularmente en sus naturalezas muertas de una reproducción casi fotográfica que nos recuerda el estilo de Ruskin sin pretender que este pintor britannico lo haya influenciado.
