Following upon the landscapes of the Círculo de Bellas Artes and the Escuela de Caracas and when the Avila appeared to be an exhausted theme in the plastic arts, Jacobo Borges, one of our greatest innovative contemporary artists, dedicated a complete book to the Great Mountain, using his own reflexive and intimate notes to establish a mutual relationship. It is stimulating for the reader as he discovers Borges' artistic correlation in the excellent drawings in which the antagonism between urban life and the reminiscence of nature is set forth. From start to finish Jacobo Borges' appropiate humanistic, ecologic graphic design is apparent.
In 1982, the publisher was awarded the Ehrendiplom der Internationalen Buchkunst-Austellung (Diploma of Honor for Jacobo Borges La Montaña y su Tiempo), signed by the mayor of the city, at the Book Fair held annually in "the book town" of Leipzig.

Cuando El Avila parecía ya tema agotado en la plástica, después del paisajismo del Círculo de Bellas Artes y de la Escuela de Caracas, Jacobo Borges, uno de nuestros artistas contemporáneos de mayor poder innovador, le dedica todo un libro a la Gran Montaña, con escritos y dibujos propios. Las anotaciones reflexivas e intimistas establecen una relación recíprocamente estimulante para el lector, pues hallan su correlato artístico en los excelentes dibujos en los cuales se plantea el antagonismo entre vida urbana y la reminiscencia de la naturaleza. La opción humanista y ecológica de Jacobo Borges signan de principio a fin este volumen de muy apropiado diseño gráfico.
