Antonio Alcántara belongs to that generation of landscape artists that Enrique Planchart dubbed "the Caracas School". Following 1920, this generation was charged with the soundness and development of the artistic pursuits of the founding members of the Circle of Fine Arts.
Thematically, Alcántara's visual perception, like that of his colleagues, explored, returning time and again to the valley of Caracas and its environs, the central coast, and Venezuela's eastern beaches. On a smaller scale, he also moved into the genre of portraits, where he limited his pictoric interest to family members.
Moreover, in the last part of the book , printed on special paper, a considerable amount of the master's sketches and drawings have been assembled.

Antonio Alcántara pertence a la generación de paisajistas que Enrique Planchart denominó "Escuela de Caracas". Después de 1920, dicha generación se encargó de afianzar y desarrollar las búsquedas plásticas propuestas por los miembros fundadores del "Circulo de Bellas Artes".
Temáticamente la percepión visual de Alcántara, al igual que la de sus compañeros ha explorado recurrentemente el valle de Caracas y sus alrededores, el Litoral Central y las playas orientales venezolanas. Tambien ha incursionado, aunque en menor escala, en el género de retrato, en donde ha reducido su interés iconografico al medio familiar.
El libro recoje además en la última parte y con papel especial, un considerable numero de bocetos y dibujos del maestro.
