This book, first published twenty-five years ago, is now a classic in Venezuelan architectural history. At the same time, it is the first investigation, generally speaking, to deal with architecture during the Spanish period. In order to put together the different architectural types, the author has divided the material into three parts: civil, religious and military. In addition, there are numerous illustrations and plans.

Este libro, cuya primera edición apareció hace veinticinco años, es ya un clásico de la historia de la arquitectura venezolana. Es, a la vez, la primera investigación que, con carácter general, trató el tema de la arquitectura durante el período hispánico.
Con el propósito de reunir los diferentes tipos arquitectónicos, el autor ha dividido la materia en tres partes: la arquitectura civil, la religiosa y la militar. Cuenta, además, con numerosas ilustraciones y planos.
